Dr. E. Michael Harrington, the Music Business Program Department Chair at SAE Institute Nashville, was the guest expert on ABC News Radio discussing Robin Thicke’s testimony at the copyright infringement trial.
The family of Marvin Gaye filed a lawsuit against Robin Thicke claiming his song, “Blurred Lines,” was taken from Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” from 1977.
Dr. Harrington weighed in on the topic: “Nothing original has been copied by Robin Thicke. The only things that are similar, I think, are the style and the speed and the instrumentation. But that’s really not enough.” (ABC News Radio).
