Music Business Associate Degree


Program Overview

The Music Business Program (MBP) is a dynamic, intensive program designed to prepare students for a career in the music industry in a short amount of time. This course will help artists, producers, and performers understand how business partners with creativity. Classes explore the way projects are pitched, sold, copyrighted, produced, marketed, and delivered.

The Music Business Diploma Program requires students to complete 45 credit hours of core Music Business Program courses over the course of four semesters to graduate:

Semester 1: Copyrights & Royalties, Audio Production, Event Management

Semester 2: Record Labels, Marketing & Social Media, Video Production, Touring

Semester 3: Business Law, Distribution, Web Design

Semester 4: Entrepreneurship, Communications, Final Project

Associate of Science Degree students will gain a wider range of professional skills, problem solving, and critical thinking through courses in English Composition, World History, Introduction to Mathematical Modeling, Conceptual Physics, and Speech Communications. These courses, when combined with the core technical and creative curricula, provide the graduate with a well-rounded education that prepares them for the industry.

Tuition: $35,000.00
Laptop Package: $3,700.00
Estimated Cost of Textbooks: $700.00
Technology Fee: $598.00



Tuition may be paid by cash, check, money order, or bank transfer. SAE offers a discount of 3% on tuition paid in full in advance of the first class, with the exception of any loans administered through SAE (e.g., Sallie Mae) or any third-party agency sponsorship (e.g., employer sponsored tuition assistant programs). Our schools also offer monthly payment plans with no interest or finance charges. These payments comply with state and federal requirements.

Class Schedule

The SAE Institute San Jose campus is currently available to students and staff Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 11:00PM and 10:00AM to 6:00PM on Saturdays. The campus is closed on Sundays. During these opening times, access to the lecture theatre, all studios, labs, motion capture, green screen, audio and video suites, library and classrooms is subject to the booking process of the SAE Institute San Jose Master Scheduler. Access to offices, copy room, and all building maintenance and storage rooms is not available to students.

Most classes occur between the hours of 8:00AM - 11:00PM. However, labs may periodically be scheduled outside of these hours. Distance education courses are asynchronous. The labs and facilities are open for student use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
