Overview

Program Overview

The Audio Bachelor's of Applied Science is an intensive practical and theoretical course of study that provides students with the knowledge and skills to shape audio design and creation. Students attending this program learn both the technical and creative components of audio design and business principles of the entertainment industry. This is a hands-on, project-based program culminating in a major capstone project that draws upon the range of knowledge and skills learned throughout the program, and the program can be completed in as few as 32 months.

Degree Progression

Each academic year you'll be immersed in project-based, hands-on courses while gradually accruing your general education requirements.

Bachelor's of Applied Science students will be required to complete 36 credits of General Education classes including: Speech Communication, College Mathematics, American History, Literature, and more.

Class Schedule

128 Credits / 32 Months

The Audio Bachelor's of Applied Science program consists of 32 courses taken in 16 months. Students enrolled full-time in the Bachelor's program take 4 courses per 15-week semester with a short break between terms. Students must successfully complete the second 64 credit hours of core audio and General Education courses to receive a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Audio degree.

The SAE Institute San Jose campus is currently available to students and staff Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 11:00PM and 10:00AM to 6:00PM on Saturdays. The campus is closed on Sundays. During these opening times, access to the lecture theatre, all studios, labs, motion capture, green screen, audio and video suites, library and classrooms is subject to the booking process of the SAE Institute San Jose Master Scheduler. Access to offices, copy room, and all building maintenance and storage rooms is not available to students.

Most classes occur between the hours of 8:00AM - 11:00PM. However, labs may periodically be scheduled outside of these hours. Distance education courses are asynchronous. The labs and facilities are open for student use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
