Advanced Blockchain Technology Implemented by SAE Institute After Successful Trial

SAE Institute has recently piloted a secure documents app, Vizidox, to issue degree qualifications to graduates. The new app, Vizidox, using Blockchain technology, sets a new precedent of innovation for its use in the education sector. This technology, initially developed for the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, has been adapted by Vizidox in what will likely be a significant disruption to the way students receive and use their credentials.

In response to global concern about data and integrity breaches and in order to create a new certificate distribution system for students, SAE Institute trialed this blockchain application in the first half of 2018 to issue degrees and academic transcripts to a select group of Bachelor of Games Design graduates in Australia. With usability a priority for staff and students, the platform has a simple user interface, is cloud based and profoundly secure.

Vizidox will remove the need for third party verification processes and is set to disrupt all of the established systems for document security.

The Vizidox system has a range of management features to organize issuance dates, track documents by region and timezone and provide staff with an international secure instant communications medium. And its application can be more widely utilized in other aspects of the business, such as protecting intellectual property, copyright protected materials and creative work not protected by copyright but required secure transmission between two parties.

The CEO of Navitas Careers and Industry and SAE Institute Global, Scott Jones, said SAE Institute was at the forefront of digital credentialing, given that blockchain credentials had yet to be successfully issued by most Australian universities.

“The days of seeking or replacing notariszd documents are almost gone. We are hoping that the Vizidox platform will allow SAE Institute, a global education provider, to manage all of its credentials across almost 50 campuses throughout Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas,” he said.

“With the successful pilot in Australia, our plan is to expand the service to all SAE Institute campuses globally.”
