SAE Institute’s Nashville Campus Names New Director of Education

Ryan Griffin

As the year comes to a close, our SAE Institute of Technology Nashville (SAE Institute Nashville) campus is happy to announce new leadership within the campus—a new Director of Education (DOE). Promoted from within, Ryan Griffin brings a wealth of experience to the SAE Institute team, as both an educator, studio manager, and musician.

Ryan earned his bachelor’s in Recording Industry Management at Middle Tennessee State University. After several years working in the industry, and two nominations for “Educator of the Year” at the International Academy of Design and Technology, he later earned his MBA, with a concentration in Music Business, at Middle Tennessee State University.

Before his time as an instructor at SAE Nashville, Ryan spent several years as the Department Lead at the International Academy of Design and Technology, overseeing the Digital Audio Production department, and instructing students in courses such as Introduction to Audio, Music Business, Intro to Pro Tools, Advanced Pro Tools, Live Sound, Production, Mixing, Internship, and Portfolio courses. He also served as Faculty Advisor to the student Audio Engineering Society chapter on campus.

Shannon Meggert, SAE Nashville Campus Director, shared, “We are very excited to have Ryan join our management team. In his time as an instructor here, he’d already demonstrated his strengths as a leader in education. It’s important for us to provide that kind of support, insight, and direction to the students here in Nashville.”

In addition to his experience in higher education, we are encouraged by Ryan’s depth of experience in the music and entertainment industry as a whole. His experience in Digital Operations and Strategy for an independent music company in Nashville—Take a Stand Music—gives him important context to the ever-present challenges and opportunities within this unique industry. This is paramount to support students and faculty within not only SAE Institute Nashville’s Audio programs, but Entertainment Business curriculum as well.

When asked about his new role, Griffin said, “I am incredibly excited to be the new Director of Education at SAE Nashville. The creative industries that make Nashville a fantastic city give off an energy that resonates through our campus, and combined with our incredible staff, our campus, and the experience we offer our students, is truly unique. I am looking forward to what we can accomplish together in 2021 and beyond.”

Jake Elsen, SAE Institute North America’s General Manager and COO adds, “Selecting new leaders on campus is always an opportunity for positive change. We’re confident in Ryan’s experience and excited by his engagement in the role and what that means for our students. We’re looking forward to how he helps lead the dynamic, and passion-driven learning environment we have in Nashville.” As an organization, we await the fresh perspectives and industry experience Ryan will bring to students at SAE Nashville. Join us in welcoming him, December 21st, 2020.
