SAE Institute Students Win 2019 AES Nashville Spring Mixer Competition Second Year In A Row!

SAE Institute Nashville students were awarded first place in the 2019 AES Nashville Spring Mixer. This will mark the second year in a row SAE Institute brought home the trophy! The Nashville team included Sim Lester, Andy Wildrick and Jonathan Fiorante.

The annual Audio Engineering Society (AES) Nashville Spring Mixer is a competition hosted by AES Nashville to benefit the schools teaching audio engineering in and around Middle Tennessee. Each school selects a team of 2-3 students who are given the opportunity to mix 1 song in 8 hours at one of 8 identical mixing rooms at MTV/CMT studios in downtown Nashville. The resulting mix is judged by a panel of industry professionals – mixing engineers, mastering engineers, and producers. The results of that judging are revealed along with anonymous comments on the students’ work.

Representing SAE Institute, Lester, Wildrick and Florante, competed against teams of students from other schools including Belmont University, Lipscomb University, Art Institute of Tennessee, The Blackbird Academy, and Middle Tennessee State University.

“I could not be happier with SAE Institute’s results at this year’s 2019 AES Spring Mixer,” says Lynn Dorton, Campus Director. “The coveted trophy will now sit in the lobby of SAE Institute Nashville for another year. We have competed in this event for many years, and this is the second time we’ve earned the very top spot. Our whole campus community is in celebration mode!”

In addition to earning the trophy, the SAE Institute team members earned prizes for themselves as well as new microphones and other gear for the SAE Institute Nashville campus.

Congratulations, SAE Institute Nashville!
