Transfer to SAE Institute
Credit transfer process
How do we determine if your credits are eligible for transfer? Here are a few of the steps required:
Send your transcript to our team
Students need to send an official transcript from the previous institution to the Student Service Coordinator’s office at SAE Institute.
To make sure the student can receive the most accurate schedule, the official transcript needs to be received as soon as possible after the student has enrolled.
Many factors impact how your transfer credit is approved
Only passing grades of “C” or better will be taken into consideration. Factors that will be used to determine transfer of credit include, but are not limited to, the number of course credits earned, objectives and description of the previous course, length of time passed since the course was completed, and the level of the previous course.
Extra information may be required in some cases
If needed, students might be required to provide a course catalog or syllabus so we can provide a fair assessment. Courses that are approved to be awarded transfer of credit will show on the student’s transcript as “TC.”
What you should know
Keep in mind, awarding of transfer credit is at the sole discretion of SAE Institute. We will determine if the courses completed at the previous institution are sufficiently equivalent to the courses in the student’s program of interest.
Once awarded, students who receive transfer credit will have the program tuition charge prorated based upon the remaining number of credits the student must earn in order to graduate. In order to earn a degree from SAE Institute, students must complete 50% of their coursework with us.
As always, our team is here to help work through this process with you and see what credits you have available to carry into your education at SAE Institute.
