SAE Institute Instructor and Graduate Joseph Hudson Passes Away

The SAE Institute community is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Joseph Hudson—one of our beloved instructors and graduates. Joseph passed away suddenly, in his home, on the evening of February 24, 2021.

To those who knew him, Joseph was a truly wonderful man who inspired and supported students with his affable personality, kind heart, and passion for the entertainment industry.

Anthony Corder, Entertainment Business Chair, colleague, and friend of Joseph shares, “As a former SAE Institute student and adjunct professor, Joseph was inspiring to our students. He had what sometimes seemed like an intimidating persona because of his wrestling profession, but he was one sweet soul on the inside. Joseph shared his personal and professional experiences with our students with a servant’s heart and a wicked sense of humor. He cared about others. Joseph was a light here in Nashville, always made us laugh, loved music and his VHS movies. I will continue to carry him and his influence with me.”

SAE Institute North America GM and COO, Jake Elsen says, “The loss of Joseph is one that will be felt in our community for some time. It’s clear through the outpouring of love and support for Joseph and his family that he was able to make a vast impact across so many different groups of people in this world. We join together across our organization to mourn the loss of such an impactful person in our lives.”

A member of the wrestling community, Joseph was considered a pillar of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) for many years. NWA shared, “Whether it be as the enigmatic leader of the Kingdom of Jocephus or the beloved Master of Mongrovian Karate…Joseph will be remembered for his warm personality and imaginative spirit.”

Our deepest condolences are shared with Joseph’s family, including his 10-year old son, and all those close with him.

Grief counseling will be made available to students, staff, and faculty within our SAE Institute community. In the coming days, we’ll share any information we have available regarding a Celebration of Life or other events in honor of Joseph.
