From Miami to Nashville, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta – some of our Audio graduates are continuing to make a splash on the music scene.

We recently connected with Miami campus Alumni, Perry Mason aka Cre8tiveGod, who is doing great things in the music industry including working with artists signed to major labels, as well as producing his own music. Follow along as we learn more about what got him into beatmaking, what his time was like at SAE Institute Miami, and the advice he has for current students.

Who or what inspired you to work in the music industry?

Beat production is what got me into the industry. I was so infatuated with how sounds were put together to produce beats. From the age of 12, I’ve done research on how to make beats and what I can use to make them. I started tracking vocals with a program called Acid Pro and was making beats until I found FL Studio.

You’re an artist, producer, and engineer. How do you approach the process of creating new music for yourself?

I keep myself busy and I am active in helping others so I always have things to talk about, express, or vent about. Even though I make beats, I also get sent a lot of beats which always gives me inspiration to write. I also get a lot of people asking me to be featured on their music which gives me inspiration to work on my own stuff as well.

What are some things you’re currently working on that you can tell us about?

I just received a billboard for Bossman D low “Shake That (Twerk Song)” and “Mr. Beat The Road” album. Currently I’m working with an artist signed to Sony Records, Alamo Records, Epic Records, ROC Nation, and more. I’m also working on songs with Mystic Zack aka “I Pick Wins” for the video game Undisputed. I have 3 projects of my own that I’m finishing up to release with some popular features. I also have new merchandise for fans.

What was your time like at SAE Institute Miami?

Going to SAE Miami was one of the best decisions I made. SAE helped me to connect with like-minded people, sharpened my skills, and made me a professional.

What advice do you have for students who are also artists themselves?

Evaluate where you are and research where you want to go. Connect and network as much as possible. Make sure you understand the business side of things. Know your worth, be yourself, and never stop.
