SAE Institute Atlanta turned up the energy on Saturday, August 22, with the Beat Battle Royale, bringing together music creators, aspiring producers, and industry professionals for an afternoon centered around beats, performance, and creative collaboration.
The event put producers in the spotlight with a high-energy beat battle judged by Atlanta music professionals Brendon Porter and JBrab. With years of experience spanning music production, engineering, DJing, touring, and live performance, the guest judges brought valuable industry insight to the competition while helping celebrate the creativity and talent of the participants.
Adding to the afternoon was a live performance by Stax Hinsley, a Southern storyteller of Grenadian heritage and Northside Atlanta roots. Known for his signature “Mirror Music,” Stax blends soul, hip-hop, alternative, and Caribbean influences with thoughtful lyricism centered on reflection, faith, and personal growth. His performance gave attendees an opportunity to experience his unique sound and connect with an artist making his mark on Atlanta’s music scene.
The Beat Battle Royale offered more than just competition. Attendees enjoyed a live DJ, creator Q&A, swag giveaways, and opportunities to connect with fellow creatives and industry professionals. The event created an engaging space for participants to share their work, learn from experienced music makers, and celebrate the art of production.
From the producers battling for the crown to the live performance and conversations with industry guests, the Beat Battle Royale showcased the energy, creativity, and talent that make Atlanta such an influential music city.
Events like the Beat Battle Royale give SAE Institute Atlanta students valuable opportunities to connect their classroom experience with the real-world music industry.
