SAE Institute Offers Two Kinds of Entertainment Business Programs: Diploma and Associate Degree
Because the needs of many students are different, most SAE Institute campuses offer two kinds of study in Entertainment Business. Below, you’ll find more information on these programs. 1. Entertainment Business Diploma
The Diploma in Entertainment Business program consists of 11 courses taken in 12 months. Students enrolled full-time in the diploma program take 1-2 courses per module with a short break between modules and semesters. Students successfully complete 40 credit hours of core Entertainment Business courses and 4 credits in Career Preparation courses to receive their Diploma in Entertainment Business.
2. Entertainment Business Associate Degree
The Associate of Applied Science in Entertainment Business program consists of 16 courses taken in 16 months. Students enrolled full-time in the associate program take 2 courses per module with a short break between modules and semesters. Students successfully complete 64 credit hours of core Entertainment Business, Career Preparation, and General Education courses to receive their Associate of Applied Science in Entertainment Business degree.
Both programs include an intensive course of study that prepares students for a range of careers within the entertainment industry. Students study business fundamentals, marketing, artist development, entertainment management, entrepreneurship, intellectual property rights, distribution, event planning, and common industry structures and practices, and will learn practical contemporary media production skills in video, audio, web, and even some basic design skills, to prepare them for a variety of entry-level positions in the entertainment industry.
In addition to these things, the Entertainment Business Associate Degree also educates students on important skills for success in the business world—including effective communication, critical thinking, and research skills.

Instructors Use “Student-centered Active Education”
Student-centered Active Education (S.A.E) is a method used by instructors to prepare students for employment in their chosen fields via practice-based learning. Students are actively involved in practical, real-world assignments to learn their course material. Through these experiences, students develop and acquire practical experience that they can apply immediately upon graduation.
Anthony Corder, the Entertainment Business Program Chair at SAE Institute Nashville says, “I think the programs value our S.A.E. approach. We want students to have real-life application with entertainment entrepreneurial “think tank” mindset in our class settings. We encourage group discussion and class participation to get students engaged and collaborating. Another attribute is the students themselves. We talk about their value. Each one of these students is so unique and brings value to the group. Their life perspective, critical thinking skills, and creativity. All these things are unique and students can share their experiences in class in a way that helps their peers.”
SAE Institute instructors are also active in the industry outside the classroom, and they bring those experiences back to their students.
