Adjunct Professor
"Always say Yes to an Opportunity, even if you don't have the knowledge needed to accomplish it."

Hi, my name is Matt “Maccabee” Drozd.

I started working in live sound in 2016, mixing FOH in house-show venues. Here, I worked with Briston Maroney, Adam Melchor, Arlie, and Fulton Lee. Some of these artists have gone on to play Bonnaroo and perform on major tours. Since then I’ve worked with Jake Owen, Gary Levox from Rascal Flatts, Lee Brice, John Rich, Eddie Montgomery, Amy Grant, San Holo, and more.

I studied audio engineering at Middle Tennessee State University for four years and I’ve been working in audio since I graduated. Over the years, I’ve worked in many different areas of live sound. I’ve been a stagehand, I’ve mixed monitors and FOH, run lights and video, and I’m also an artist. I record my own music as well as engineer sessions for other artists. I’ve recorded and produced hundreds of tracks for myself, friends, and clients.

I’m excited to give you a lot of information over this course that will help prepare you for the real-world opportunities available in live sound. We will take a hands-on approach in our lessons for this class. I hope that this will provide you with baseline knowledge and experience to help find your place within the audio workforce.

My goal in work, life, and this class is to view learning audio in a way that is unique and exciting. I hope that this will lead you to a successful career in the audio/music industry.
